Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Fall Play With Success In BSC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men’s tennis team brought a close to the fall campaign this weekend with a great performance in the Birmingham-Southern Tournament. The Bulldog men went defeated Jacksonville State, 5-2, and Birmingham-Southern, 7-0, Saturday.
Against Jacksonville State, Bulldog duo Renan Silveira and Sam Huffman defeated Duke/Robinson, 8-3. Hank Grant and Stuart Misner beat Unkenholz/Amores, 8-3, while Manuel Miletic and Brian Dushock beat Vaccarin/Olmedo, 8-2.
In singles, Misner defeated Vaccarin (6-1, 6-3), Grant beat Duke (7-5, 6-3), Huffman won over Unkenholz (6-1, 6-0), and Bradley Weaver took down Olmedo (6-1, 6-3). Silveira fell to Roberson in two sets of 7-5, and Miletic lost to Amores in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 10-8).
Against Birmingham-Southern, Misner/Grant tagged an 8-1 win over Locandro/Mabry, and Weaver/Thomas defeated Crockett/Freeman, 8-3. Huffman /Silveira fell to Walsh/Engler, 8-7.
In singles, Silveira defeated Engler (6-2, 6-1), Misner won over Walsh (6-1, 6-1), Grant beat Locandro (6-0, 7-6), Miletic took down Mabry (6-2, 6-1), Huffman beat Crockett (6-2, 6-0), and Dushock defeated Freeman (6-3, 6-2).
The Samford men will begin the spring campaign as they travel to Orange Beach, Ala., to participate in the Orange Beach Tennis Classic, Jan. 3 – Jan. 6.
