HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. ---- The Samford men’s golf team sits at sixth place after two rounds in the first day of the Western Carolina Intercollegiate held at the Etowah Valley Country Club in Hendersonville, N.C. This is the last tournament for the Bulldogs’ fall season.
Samford shot 15 over with a combined 303 Saturday, while still landing three Bulldogs in the top 20. Reed Davis is tied at 14th place shooting two over with a first day total of 74, 35 in the first round and 39 in the second. Bradley Pate and Andrew Villarreal are tied at 20th, shooting 75. Pate shot 35 in round one and 40 in round two, while Villerreal shot 38 and 37. In a tie at 47th is John Turnipseed, shooting 38-41 = 79, and rounding out the Samford team is Jeremy Cox in a tie for 54th, shooting 37-45 = 82.
Leading the field is host team Western Carolina, followed by Wofford and Ohio Valley Conference opponent Tennessee Tech tied at second. Winthrop sits at fourth, while High Point holds onto the fifth place spot.
