--- Bulldogs challenge Gamecocks to a rematch ---

Oct. 24, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team will challenge Jacksonville State to a rematch Wednesday night as the play host to the Gamecocks in Seibert Hall. The Bulldogs hope to snap the four-match losing streak they are currently on.

Samford (6-18, 1-9 OVC) looks to even the series with Jacksonville State (16-4, 10-0 OVC). The Bulldogs lost 3-0 (27-30, 23-30, 22-30) to the Gamecocks on Sept. 27 when the Bulldogs traveled to Jacksonville, Ala.

Samford comes off a winless road weekend as they lost at Eastern Illinois (3-0) and Southeast Missouri (3-1). Despite the losses, Bulldogs freshman Alyssa Trimpe had back-to-back double-doubles this weekend, while while sophomore Kirstein Sosnowski hit .364 against Southeast Missouri. The Bulldogs have worked hard to prepare for Wednesday’s match.

“JSU is a very good team,” Samford head coach Michelle Durban said. “We need to be disciplined against them and play with intensity tomorrow night.”

Jacksonville State currently sits at the top of the Ohio Valley Conference standing, and comes off two three-game wins over Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois. The Gamecocks are on an 11-game win streak.

The Bulldogs and Gamecocks are set to face off at 7 p.m., in Seibert Hall.
