Cross Country Finishes Fourth In Great American Festival

--- Bulldogs have a bad day ---

Sept. 23, 2006

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men’s and women’s cross country teams finished in fourth place today in the Great American Cross Country Festival held today at Spain Park.

For the men’s team, Bo Brawner finished sixth and Drew Anderwald finished seventh. Katherine Herring was the top runner for the women.

“It was not a good day for us,” said Head Coach Glenn McWaters. “We did not run well at all. We didn’t meet our expectations.”

Red-shirt senior Lauren Blankenship ran unattached for the Bulldogs.

“Lauren Blankenship ran well, being that she had surgery a few weeks ago and hasn’t trained in ten days,” said McWaters. “If she had been to her full capacity, I think she would have won the women’s individual race.”

The Bulldogs runner will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 30, as they travel to Auburn to run in the Auburn Invitational.
