Women’s Golf Heads To Monroe To Compete In The Fred Marx Invitational

MONROE, La. ---- The Samford women’s golf team will be in Monroe, La., for the next two days as they take part in the Frex Marx Invitational hosted by the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

This is the second time that the Lady Linksters have taken to the green, but this will be the first tournament of this size for the Samford women this year. Last week, Samford competed in the Birmingham Tri-Match with cross-town rivals UAB and Birmingham-Southern. The ladies placed second in that match.

Samford will be competing with nine other team in the tournament including Centenary College, McNeese State, Texas State, Henderson State, Nicholls State, Troy University, Jackson State, Sam Houston State, and host Louisiana-Monroe.

Competing on the Bulldog team are linksters Maria Troche, Katelyn Stanier, Heather Arnold, Courtney Warr, and Kellie O’Connell.

The Fred Marx Invitational is a 54-hole event that beginning at 9 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 25, and will conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Both rounds will be shotgun starts.
