Men’s Tennis Heads To Chattanooga To Play In Baras Classic

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men’s tennis team will travel to Chattanooga this weekend to participate in the Steve Baras Fall Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The tournament will be held at the Champions Club in Hixson, Tenn.

The Bulldogs will join 23 teams in the Baras Fall Classic including Alabama-Huntsville, Arkansas, Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Louisiana-Monroe, Mercer, Morehead State, Murray State, North Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, Tennessee-Martin, UAB, UNC-Asheville, Western Kentucky, and hosts Chattanooga.

Samford men’s tennis returns seniors Stuart Misner, Manual Miletic, and Bradley Weaver. Also returning are juniors Renan Silveira and Hank Grant as well as sophomore Brian Dushock. The Bulldogs welcome junior newcomers Sam Huffman, Jason Thomas, and Sam Rocke.

The tournament is in memory of former Chattanooga tennis player Steve Baras and all monies raised from the tournament go toward scholarships for Chattanooga men’s and women’s teams.
