Men’s Golf In Last Place After First Day Of Shoal Creek

--- Bulldogs behind tough competition in Shoal Creek Intercollegiate ---

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men’s golf team is in 15th place after the first day of the Second Annual Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. The Bulldog linksters played 36 holes today along with teams from all over the country.

The Samford men shot 304-307=61,1 to put them at the bottom of the list of 15 teams after the first day. Reed Davis shot 73-76=149, to put him at a six-way tie for 25th place. Other Bulldogs competing were Andrew Villerreal (77-77=154) and Bradley Pate (76-78=154) who are tied, and Jeremy Cox (86-76=162) and John Turnipseed (78-84=162) who are also tied.

Joining Samford in the tournament are teams from Alabama, Central Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Michigan State, Auburn, North Carolina, Louisiana State, Baylor, Southern Methodist University, Virginia, Georgia Southern, North Florida, and hosts Alabama-Birmingham.

The Bulldogs will finish the tournament tomorrow with tee times starting at 8:35 a.m., and the last being 9:11 a.m.
