No Change For Men’s Golf In Round Three Of Shoal Creek

--- Samford finishes 15th in Birmingham tournament ---

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford University men’s golf team shot 307 today in the third round of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, putting them at 15th place as the tournament draws to a close. The Bulldogs sat at 15th place after the first two rounds yesterday.

The Samford men shot 304 in the first round and 307 in the second and third rounds, bringing their total score to 918. Senior Reed Davis held the top position for the Bulldogs again today, shooting a team round-three best 75. Davis finished in an 11-way tie for 23rd place.

Junior Andrew Villarreal shot a steady 77 in all three rounds to put him in a three-way tie for 55th place. Senior Bradley Pate tied with four other participants for 58th place, shooting 76-78-78=232. Sophomore Jeremy Cox placed 70th as he shot 86-76-77=239, and junior John Turnipseed rounded out the Bulldog team at 73rd, shooting 78-84-82=244.

The Samford men will have a few weeks off before getting back into action for the fall season. Next, they will travel to Clarksville, Tenn., to participate in the Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23 -24.
