Men’s Golf To Take Part In The Second Annual Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men’s golf team will take to the links at Shoal Creek Golf Course on Monday as they open play in the Second Annual Shoal Creek Intercollegiate hosted by University of Alabama-Birmingham. The Bulldogs will play two rounds tomorrow and 18 holes on Saturday.

The Samford linksters look to improve upon their performance last week at the Raines Development Group Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion University. The Bulldogs placed 15th overall, and junior Andrew Villarreal finished at a tie for fifth place.

The event will begin, Monday, Sept. 25, with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. Following Monday's two rounds, the final 18 holes will begin on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m., with set tee times beginning on the first and tenth holes.

Before last year, Shoal Creek had been without a major collegiate tournament for nine years. Shoal Creek has played host to the 1984 and 1990 PGA Championship and 1986 U.S. Amateur. It will also be the site of to the 2008 U.S. Junior Amatuer.
